As a home infusion nurse, I saw first-hand the chaos and frustration that builds among patients, physicians and caregivers as we struggled to connect with each other effectively to provide the best possible care for patients undergoing treatment. Due to the lack of automation and cumbersome communication vehicles in place, patients struggled to receive prompt and thorough care, while referral sources grew frustrated with complications that resulted from lack of compliance with therapy guidelines. Home infusion providers were challenged to provide the right level of care and attention while maintaining profits with rising overhead costs and changing reimbursements.
I knew there had to be a better way. I had seen the digital revolution take place across the rest of the healthcare spectrum, as more hospitals and physician practices adopted technology that enabled them to automate manual processes, empower patients with access to information and care providers instantly, and communicate more effectively with each other and their patients. That’s when I decided to start Citus Health.
In 2015, I partnered with Shahid Shah, an internationally recognized and influential healthcare IT leader who is commonly known as “The Healthcare IT Guy” across the Internet and has successfully launched several technology companies. Shahid shared my passion for improving the lives of patients undergoing treatment and improving the way in which services are delivered to patients in alternate care sites, such as homes, clinics and skilled nursing facilities. We put our heads together to design and deliver the first iteration of Call Bell™, our patient-empowering, mobile solution that assists patients instantly with frequently asked questions about infusion procedures and provides instant, online access to an expert if additional assistance is needed.
Since that time, we’ve worked with some of the nation’s leading home infusion providers and home health agencies to expand our product offering and lead organizations to a better way of operating their business. We’ve added solutions that help office personnel, such as nursing schedulers and billing managers, accomplish their daily tasks in a fraction of the time it used to take them. Our electronic signature capture technology facilitates faster reimbursement and ensures proper documentation is on hand during audits. Our verbal order capability helps minimize delays in care, and our supplies tracker capability eliminates the thousands of dollars that are wasted on supply overages every day.
Join the Citus Health revolution as we look to dramatically improve access to care providers so patients can experience more productive and higher quality lives while undergoing treatment, and providers can be more successful in offering services within alternate care sites.
